Description

:iconcity-guardian-senshi:

:bulletgreen: Civilian Name
Ethelinda Ch'ava (nicname is Ethne)

City
Mare Anguis (Serpent Sea)

Age: 21
Height: 5' 4"
Weight: 126 lbs

Personality
Ethne is a very studious young woman like most citizens of Mare Anguis. She dedicates her time to learning the art of battle and as such can appear to be aloof and often ungrateful to kindnesses shown to her. She has a "strike first" mentality which makes meeting and keeping friends difficult. While she is neither aloof or ungrateful, she is somewhat shy having spent most of her younger life in seclusion as a Priestess of Leviathon.

Family
To preserve the purity of the senshi lineage, all daughters born to a father or mother who is a descendant of a senshi are taken at 3-years of age and trained as a Priestess of Leviathon until their 14th birthday. On their 14th birthday, these young priestesses are sent to the sea caverns for a test. Very few girls pass this test and transform into a senshi. Ethne was born in Mare Anguis to a family whose lineage includes ancient sailor senshi. ... She passed her test, causing the Ouroboros orbs to collide over the Basilisk Stone to transform her into Sailor Anguiculus for the first time. From then on, Ethne trained as Sailor Anguiculus, no closer to her family than she was when she was taken at the young age of 3... She only knows that she has a younger brother and her mother's eyes.

Fighting Ability
Ethne is a superb fighter despite her small stature. Being born in Mare Anguis, she is descendant of warriors and spends a majority of her time in training or perfecting her physical combat techniques. She is adept at fighting in close combat (hand-to-hand) as well as with staffs, spears, glaives and other long weapons. As well as her physical ability in a fight, she has several magical attacks she can call upon when she is transformed as Sailor Anguiculus.

Magic Attacks
(death orb) "Screaming Reaper Repose!"
Releasing the blue orb from her staff, Anguiculus holds her outstretched arms beneath her and releases the power into the ground. The ground cracks and shudders beneath her opponent as it swallows them whole. Then, in a mighty flash, Anguiculus's opponent erupts from the ground in a blaze of light and ice, thrown into the sky while being pelted by ice and stone before finally falling back to the ground. This can be used once per transformation (or a second time if Anguiculus replenishes her energy with the Rebirth orb).
(rebirth orb) "Brio Essence Awakening..."
Releasing the green orb from her staff, Anguiculus hugs it close to her. As a light shines out from her Basilisk Stone, the power of the orb is absorbed into her broach. A white hot light erupts from her body and splits the heavens... As the heavens rain down upon Anguiculus or her comrades (her choice or both), they begin to glow like the Ouroboros Orb (green) as their energy is renewed and small wounds healed... This can be used once per transformation unless Anguiculus calls upon her 'little snake' to replenish her energy.
(glaive) "Infinite Crushing Despair!"
Anguiculus spins her glaive above her until she creates a vortex with the ambient moisture in the air. Using the Ouroboros orbs, she transforms the vorex into any of the following: a giant tsunami wave (attack), a dozen ice spears (attack), an obscuring mist (defense), a galeforce wind (defense) or, if both orbs have not been used, she can transform the vortex into either a water dragon or use it to age her baby hydra, Vipera, into an adult (however, using the orbs in this way means that she cannot use them individually for an equal number of hours as the transformation is allowed to last).
(her hair) "Ebony Constrictor Strike!"
Ethne herself does not have long hair, but as Anguiculus (aka 'littlel snake'), she grows a tremendous ponytail that can be manipulated like the tail of a dragon. While she can use it to do minor things like trip an opponent or use as a rope, when Anguiculus utters her attack phrase, her ponytail becomes a giant black snake that can grab and squeeze (or constrict) her opponent. This snake can also consume some or all of her opponent which then replenishes her Ouroboros orbs allowing her to reuse any of her attacks again.

:bulletpurple: A Note on her Magic Attacks
Anguiculus has some very complex attacks and some very simple attacks. BUT she only has THREE despite having more than three actual magical items to use.

Her simplest attack is that of brute force and defense which is her magical hair. She can beat, squeeze and absorb energy with it once she transforms it into the snake. The energy absorption ability does replenish a single Ouroboros Orb which will allow her to reuse an attack or choose a different attack with her other orb. Because the snake is itself part of Ethne when she is transformed into Sailor Anguiculus, it does not simply fade or cease to be able to use it's abilities. It only disappears once Sailor Anguiculus powers down.

The Ouroboros Orbs are magical items that can transfer their magical energy back and forth between themselves and the Basilisk Stone. Only one Ouroboros Orb can be missing from the Eternity Glaive at a time thus she can use only one Orb attack or force herself to reverse her senshi transformation. While she has two individual orbs, to use them in an individual attack she must remove them from her Glaive. In removing one Orb from her Glaive, her Glaive becomes a DEFENSIVE magical item or a physical attack item (non-magical).

In Order for Sailor Anguiculus to get the most power and use out of the Eternity Glaive, she must have both Ouroboros Orbs in the staff. With only one orb in the staff, she has access to it's defensive abilities only (Death Orb yields the galeforce wind; Rebirth Orb yields the obscuring mist). If she has both Orbs in the staff, she can choose what type of attack she will channel by giving some of the power from one orb to the other, powering up the specific Ouroboros Orb whose attack she needs to use (Death Orb yields the ice spears; Rebirth Orb yields the giant tusnami wave). By combining the power of both orbs, she can summon a water dragon or age her baby hydra to help her fight. This does use BOTH orbs though which means she only does this if she is in serious trouble.

To recap, here are some attack examples:
Ex 1: Slap with snake, attack with orb, defend with staff
Ex 2: Slap with snake, attack with staff, replenish with snake, attack with orb
Ex 3: Defend with staff, attack with orb, replenish with snake, constrict with snake, attack with staff

:bulletpink: About Mare Anguis
How many people are in your city?
Mare Anguis, while a major city on the Moon, does not have an impressive population. Mare Anguis boasts a population of just over 6,000 residents, of which some 1,500 are only part-time residents who have homes there where they live only part of the year. Of the remaining permanent residents, about a quarter of them are Priests or Priestesses and reside in or near the great temple.

What is the economy like?
Mare Anguis is more of a vacation spot than a center for commerce. The city has an impressive temple and garden structure dedicated to the training of a large Priesthood and of Leviathon's Chosen (those girls who become senshi). Residents of Mare Anguis are quite skilled in physical exploits like dance and athletics, so a great deal of revenue is made through the many theaters in Mare Anguis that are home to some of the most talented artists on the Moon (many famous artists and dancers come from Mare Nubium and Mare Bulla, the homes of many a great artisan and performer). For athletics, Mare Anguis hosts a yearly athletic tournament, The Leviathon Cup, where top athletes come to compete. While Mare Anguis does not have anything as exciting as a carnival or a great shopping scene (importing most everything to their own shops), the White Temple (home of the Priesthood and Mare Serpens) and Temple of the Guardian (home of Sailor Anguiculus) are major draws for tourists as are the Anguicombs. The dark rocky ground and the dark statues made from the dark rock of Mare Anguis set against a city of white is a stunning vision for any tourist as well. The white city itself is made of mostly crystal buildings or a crystalline composite that makes even the most mundane and 'unimportant' structures shimmer in the light of the stars and sun.

Who is the dominant class?
The dominant class is the Priesthood. The High Priestess, Mare Serpens, governs Mare Anguis with a small inner court of Master Priests and Priestesses. This is in stark contrast to the city of Mare Ingenii, the home of the moon's scholars (and of great debate by the council of Mare Anguis who attempts to continually set up a Temple in Mare Ingenii).

If there is little commerce, how do the citizens earn money to live?
About 1,500 residents are only part-time residents with vacation homes in Mare Anguis during the time of the year when it is less humid. These residents stay for only a short while and bring with them their own money, many from such richer cities like Mare Bulla simply looking for a different bit of scenery for a while. Others are part of the dominant class, the Priesthood, and have no need for an income as they get what they need through donations by worshippers. The remaining residents of Mare Anguis earn their keep by keeping the city beautiful (and by city, I mean the temple and the beautiful gardens). These individuals are paid by taxes collected by the Priesthood. The bulk of the residents import goods from other cities like foods from all over the moon (the ground of Mare Anguis is very bad for plantlife), the beautiful jewlery of Mare Nubium or books of all kinds from Mare Ingenii. Some have built and run the great stadiums and theaters that are home to many of the most talented performers and athletes on the moon. These shopkeepers sell their imported goods to the citizens of Mare Anguis as well as to all the tourists and part-time residents. Mare Anguis also boasts and impressive trade workforce that builds the roads, homes and buildings. The city imports their crystal from the mines of Sinus Medii as well as crystal artisans and buildmasters. While the people of Mare Anguis do the bulk of the work, because they are working with special crystals, the High Priestess ensures perfection by contracting with the city of Sinus Medii to not only transport the crystal but to send experts to make sure her own people treat the crystal properly. All of this cooperative work and tourism allows the citizens of Mare Anguis to pay their taxes, buy and give their tributes and still have money left over to take care of themselves and their family.

Is there a body of water that runs through your city?
The Anguicombs, or Sea Caverns as they are commonly called, are a series of small underground rivers that meet in multiple larger underground chambers home to magical orbs (how Ethne gained the power of Ouroboros).

What is the atmosphere / landscape like?
Aside from some above-ground streams and a few ponds (courtesy of locations where the Anguicombs come too close to the surface), Mare Anguis is an oasis of dark rock, moistened by the humid air. Not much grows, but what does grow is a beautiful lush green bush and several kinds of bamboo - of which both can overtake the landscape if not maintained by an army of gardeners!

What are some of the large buildings?
Mare Anguis is surrounded by a series of white pillars giving hommage to the greatest warriors that have come from Mare Anguis. The largest building is the main temple where the High Priestess and Council of Priests live and work. Then there is the Temple of the Guardian where the current Guardian Senshi lives and trains (Ethne). Several other smaller temples are scattered throughout the city for worship by the residents of Mare Anguis. And finally, the training and sparring of Mare Anguis residents and athletes is a giant pantheon which is also where the Leviathon Cup is held each year. Most other buildings are smaller and less impressive... though the Palacade (the main theater and school for the arts) is a dazzling and ornate building despite being smaller. The remaining buildings are mostly homes, a community center, schools (Mare Anguis has two certified schools from the Priesthood), shops and a small market full of imported fresh goods from other cities. The white crystalline buildings of Mare Anguis shimmer with dew from the humid atmosphere and create a beautiful scene against the dark rock ground and deep black of space.

Are there any people your Senshi interacts with a lot?
Mare Serpens, her mentor and teacher (and the ruling Priestess). Otherwise Ethne has periodic contact with her school teachers and other members of the priesthood.

Where does your Senshi live?
The Temple of the Guardian, a large nearly palace-like structure surrounded by crystal columns and adorned with Sea Serpent statues.
